Privacy Policy
LifeGuide asks you for the most personal material you have. This page is the exact contract for what happens to it.
Last updated 2 August 2026
The short version
We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone, in any form, ever. There is no version of this business where that changes.
We do not train AI on you. Your writing is sent to AI providers only to generate your own reply, and only to providers contractually bound not to retain it or train on it. We enforce that in code, not just on this page.
Nobody else can read your space. LifeGuide has no feed, no sharing, no profiles, no comments. There is no feature that shows your writing to another user, because we never built one.
You can take it and leave. Export everything you have written, or delete the account and have it actually erased, not flagged as hidden.
Who this is
LifeGuide is a personal reflection and goal-setting app operated by Cut The Edge (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the LifeGuide app at mylifesguide.com and nothing else. Reach us any time at privacy@cuttheedge.com.
LifeGuide is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 18, and if we learn we have, we delete it.
What we collect
Almost everything LifeGuide holds is something you deliberately typed, said, or uploaded. There is no hidden collection layer, no tracking pixel, and no data bought from anyone else.
What you write and record
- Your Core. The answers that describe who you are and who you are becoming: values, beliefs, principles, aspirations, the Blueprint.
- Your sessions and journal. Daily entries, morning notes, reflections, and the transcripts of anything you speak rather than type.
- Your goals. Pursuits, tasks, milestones, roadmaps, and what you mark done.
- Your Coach conversations. Typed and spoken, plus the summaries the Coach keeps so it remembers you between conversations.
- Files you upload. Vision board images, photos you provide as likeness input, and audio from spoken sessions.
Account and profile
- If you sign in with Google: your name, email address, and profile picture, and only those. See Google sign-in below.
- If you start anonymously: no name, no email, nothing that identifies you. Just an identifier stored in a cookie in your browser.
- Profile details you choose to add: the name you want to be called, pronouns, birthday, location, occupation, and your time zone (used to know when your day starts).
- Your settings: preferences like Coach tone, which check-ins you want, and any AI model preferences.
Technical and operational
- A session cookie to keep you signed in. It is strictly necessary to run the app, lasts 14 days, and is not used for advertising or tracking.
- AI usage metadata: which model ran, how long it took, how many tokens it used, and what it cost. This is how we keep the lights on and catch runaway spend. These records contain no part of what you wrote — the model name and a token count, never the prompt or the reply.
- Feedback you submit. If you use the in-app feedback button, we receive your message plus the page you were on, your browser and screen size, and any JavaScript errors. We never take a screenshot on our own. There is a button to attach one, and if you use it you see exactly what it captured and can remove it before sending — a screenshot of this app would contain your own writing, so it is only ever yours to send.
- API keys you add. If you connect your own AI provider or Todoist account, we store that key so the integration works. It is used server-side only and is never sent to your browser or anyone else.
What we deliberately do not collect
No advertising identifiers. No third-party analytics or marketing trackers on your personal content. No cross-site tracking. No location beyond the city you optionally type into your profile. No contacts, no camera roll, no device fingerprinting. We do not purchase or enrich your data from outside sources.
Why we use it, and on what legal basis
Everything below is in service of the app doing its job for you. We do not have a secondary business built on your data.
We do not use your personal content for marketing, and we do not do any automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you. The Coach makes suggestions; it does not make decisions about you.
How AI actually handles your writing
This is the section that matters most, and the one most apps are vague about. LifeGuide is an AI product, so your words do leave our servers to reach a model. Here is exactly what that means.
What gets sent
When you talk to the Coach or trigger an AI feature, we send the model the specific context that feature needs — a relevant slice of your Core, goals, or recent entries — plus your message. We send what the task requires, not your entire history by default.
Photos and audio are treated more strictly than text. Images you upload stay inside the feature that owns them; what travels onward to other parts of the app is the text description, never the file itself. Likeness photos are never included in any Coach context at all.
The guarantee we enforce
Zero retention, zero training, enforced in code on every request.
Every AI request LifeGuide makes through our model gateway carries two mandatory settings: route only to providers with a zero-data-retention policy, and never route to a provider that may train on the input. This is applied at the single point every AI call passes through, so no future feature can be built that forgets it. If a model has no zero-retention option available, we fail the request rather than quietly send your writing to a provider that would keep it.
In plain terms: the model reads your words, generates your answer, and retains nothing. No copy is kept on the provider’s side, and none of it becomes training data for a future model that anyone else will use.
One honest exception, stated plainly: voice transcription, spoken replies, and image generation run against OpenAI directly rather than through our gateway. OpenAI does not train on data submitted through its API, but it may retain content briefly for abuse monitoring under its API terms. We are pursuing a formal zero-retention agreement to close that gap and will update this page the day it is in place.
Live voice conversations
When you have a spoken conversation with the Coach, your microphone audio streams from your browser directly to OpenAI over an encrypted peer connection. It does not pass through, and is not recorded by, our servers. We store only the resulting text and the fact that a session happened.
We do not train on you either
Cut The Edge does not use your content to train, fine-tune, or evaluate any model. We do not read your entries. The only circumstances in which a human at Cut The Edge sees your writing are: you sent it to us in feedback, or you explicitly asked us for support and shared it.
Google sign-in, specifically
If you sign in with Google, LifeGuide requests only your basic profile and email address. We use them to create your account, to recognise you when you come back, and to address you by name in the app.
- We do not request access to your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Contacts, or any other Google service.
- We do not share your Google account information with anyone, and we do not use it for advertising.
- We do not send anything you write in LifeGuide back to Google.
- You can disconnect LifeGuide at any time from your Google account permissions, and delete your LifeGuide data separately using the steps below.
LifeGuide’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How long we keep it, and how to get rid of it
Your content stays until you delete it. That is the point of the app: a Core you build over years is worth nothing if it evaporates. But you decide when it ends.
Account deletion and export are being finished now and land before LifeGuide opens to the public. Until the in-app buttons ship, email privacy@cuttheedge.com and we will do it by hand, to the same timelines above. We would rather say that here than imply a button exists.
Your rights
Wherever you live, we extend the same core rights to everyone rather than sorting users by jurisdiction:
- Access a copy of what we hold about you.
- Correct anything inaccurate.
- Delete your account and content.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Object to or restrict a particular use, and withdraw any consent you gave.
- Complain to your data protection authority. If you are in the EU or UK, you can go straight to them; we would appreciate the chance to fix it first.
To exercise any of these, email privacy@cuttheedge.com. We respond within 30 days and we do not charge for it. We will ask you to verify you control the account, which for an anonymous account may not be possible — the trade-off of not identifying you in the first place.
If you are in California: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, we have not in the preceding 12 months, and there is therefore nothing to opt out of. You will never be discriminated against for exercising a privacy right.
If you are in the EU or UK: your data is processed in the United States by the providers listed above, under Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent approved transfer mechanism.
How it is protected
- Every record is bound to one user. Every piece of data carries its owner’s id, and every single read and write re-checks who is asking before it returns anything. There is no shared pool and no admin view of your writing.
- Encrypted in transit and at rest across our infrastructure.
- Secrets never reach your browser. API keys live only in the server environment and are never bundled into the app or returned to the client.
- No semantic index of your life. We compute no embeddings and maintain no vector index of your personal content, so there is no searchable map of you to lose.
- Access tokens are stored hashed, never in plain text, so a database copy does not hand over working credentials.
No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the relevant regulator without delay — within 72 hours of becoming aware, with what happened and what to do.
Changes to this policy
If we change something material — a new provider, a new category of data, anything that widens how your content is used — we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, not quietly update the date at the top. Continued use after that means you accept the change, and you can always export and leave instead.
Some commitments on this page are not up for revision: we will not begin selling your data, and we will not begin training models on your content. If that ever changed, it would not be this product.
