Terms of Service

The agreement between you and LifeGuide. Written to be read, not to be survived.

Last updated 2 August 2026

The short version

What you write stays yours. We claim no ownership of your Core, your entries, or anything you upload. We take only the narrow permission needed to store it and show it back to you.

LifeGuide is not therapy or medical care. It is a reflection tool with an AI coach. It cannot treat, diagnose, or handle a crisis, and it is not a substitute for a professional.

The AI will sometimes be wrong. Treat what the Coach says as a prompt to think, never as instruction to follow. Your decisions remain yours.

You must be 18 or older, and you can leave whenever you want, taking your data with you.

1. The agreement

These Terms are a contract between you and Cut The Edge (“we”, “us”), covering your use of LifeGuide at mylifesguide.com and everything in it. By creating an account or using the app, you accept them. If you do not, please do not use LifeGuide.

Our Privacy Policy is part of this agreement and explains what happens to your data.

2. What LifeGuide is not

LifeGuide is not a healthcare service and provides no medical or mental-health care.

It is a self-reflection, journaling, and goal-setting tool with an AI assistant. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition. It is not therapy, counselling, or crisis support, and the Coach is software — not a therapist, physician, lawyer, or financial adviser, and not a licensed professional of any kind.

Nothing in LifeGuide is medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice. If you are dealing with something that needs a professional, please see one. Using LifeGuide is not a reason to delay or ignore that.

If you are in crisis

Please do not use LifeGuide for this. It cannot help you, and no one is monitoring what you write. Contact emergency services, or:

  • United States: call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or text HOME to 741741.
  • United Kingdom: call 116 123 (Samaritans).
  • Elsewhere: find your local line at findahelpline.com, or call your local emergency number.

We do not monitor accounts and cannot intervene. Because we do not read your entries, we will not know, and you should never rely on us noticing.

3. About the AI

The Coach and every AI feature run on large language models. They generate plausible text, which is a different thing from true text.

  • Output can be wrong, biased, or confidently invented. Verify anything that matters before you act on it.
  • You stay responsible for your own decisions. The Coach can reflect, question, and suggest. It does not decide, and neither the Coach nor Cut The Edge is accountable for choices you make about your life, health, money, or relationships.
  • It is a mirror, not an authority. If the Coach ever reads as more certain than the situation warrants, trust yourself over it.
  • Availability depends on third parties. Model providers change, deprecate, and rate-limit their models; features may shift as a result.

4. Your account

  • You must be at least 18. By using LifeGuide you confirm you are.
  • One person per account. LifeGuide models a single person’s life; do not share an account with someone else.
  • Keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • Anonymous accounts are fragile by design. They live in a browser cookie. Clear it, switch browsers, or lose the device, and the data is unrecoverable — we have no way to identify it as yours. Connect a Google account or email if you want it to last.

5. Your content stays yours

You own everything you put into LifeGuide. We do not claim it, and we do not acquire rights to use it for anything beyond running the service for you.

You grant us only the limited licence we need to operate the app: to store your content, to process it so features work, to send the relevant parts to AI providers to generate your responses, and to show it back to you. That licence is non-exclusive, worldwide only because servers are, and it ends when you delete the content or your account.

This licence does not permit us to publish your content, show it to other users, use it in marketing, sell it, or train AI models on it. Those are excluded here and in the Privacy Policy, and we will not add them later by quietly rewording this paragraph.

You are responsible for the content you add, including that you have the right to upload any image or file you bring in.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use LifeGuide to:

  • Break the law, or plan to.
  • Upload someone else’s personal information or likeness without their permission, or content you have no right to.
  • Attack the service: probing for vulnerabilities, circumventing limits, scraping, or automating abuse.
  • Try to reach another user’s data. There is no feature for it, and attempting it ends your account immediately.
  • Resell access, or use the AI features as a general-purpose model API for something unrelated to your own reflection.
  • Generate content that sexualises minors, or that harasses or incites violence.

We may suspend or end an account that does these things. Where the situation allows it, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your data.

7. Connections and your own keys

Integrations
If you connect Todoist, Google, or another service, you authorise us to exchange the data that integration needs. Your use of that service is governed by its own terms, and we are not responsible for what it does.
Your own API keys
You may supply your own AI provider key. If you do, calls run on your account, you pay that provider directly, and you are responsible for those charges and for that provider’s terms. Our privacy commitments still apply to how we handle your writing.
Disconnecting
You can disconnect any integration at any time. Data already exchanged is governed by the other service’s policies from that point.

8. Early access, and what that means

LifeGuide is in active development. Being early gets you a product that is still being shaped; it also means being honest with you about what that costs.

  • Features may change, move, or be removed.
  • There is no uptime guarantee and no support-response commitment.
  • Bugs can cause data loss. We take backups and we take it seriously, but during early access you should keep your own copy of anything irreplaceable. Export exists for exactly this.

9. Fees

LifeGuide is currently free to use. If we introduce paid plans, we will tell you in advance and never convert a free account into a charged one without you actively choosing it. Any feature you rely on today will either stay available or you will get clear notice and a chance to export before it changes.

10. Ending it

You can stop using LifeGuide and delete your account at any time, for any reason, without asking us. Deletion works as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these Terms, or if we discontinue the service. If we shut LifeGuide down, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export everything first. We will not take your data hostage.

11. Disclaimers

LifeGuide is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate or suitable for any purpose.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law permits, and your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cut The Edge is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost opportunity, arising from your use of LifeGuide.

Our total liability for any claim relating to LifeGuide is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars (US$100).

Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Cut The Edge against claims arising from your misuse of LifeGuide, your breach of these Terms, or content you uploaded that you had no right to. This does not apply to claims caused by our own wrongdoing.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be brought in the courts of that jurisdiction, except that you may always bring a claim in your local courts where consumer law gives you that right.

Before filing anything, please email us at privacy@cuttheedge.com. Almost everything is faster to fix than to litigate.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. For material changes we will give notice in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use LifeGuide after that means you accept the new version; if you do not, export your data and close your account.

16. The rest

  • If any provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in force and that provision is narrowed to what is enforceable.
  • Not enforcing something once does not waive our right to enforce it later.
  • These Terms plus the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us about LifeGuide.
  • You may not transfer this agreement. We may transfer it to a successor if the business is acquired, subject to the commitments in the Privacy Policy.
